Kelina reading and her reflection, 2026
Pencil and watercolor on cotton paper.
24 x 18”
Kelina here is absorbed in something I can't see - a book open across her lap, her body curved toward it, the mirror behind her catching a second version of the scene. The color came from the Japanese watercolors I've been working with lately; the warmth suited the mood of the session. Reading is one of the most private things a person does in front of another person. I try not to interrupt it.
